Introduction

Their vision is an Africa where humans and wildlife can live andthrive together. Their mission is to conserve the land, cultures and wildlife of Namibia and rescue species threatened by an evershrinking habitat. Supporting African Wildlife - the Wildlife Sanctuary - provides a safe home for orphaned and injured animals which
cannot be released back into the wild. Supporting the marginalised San Community, the Clever Cubs School provides free education for San Bushman children. It is their vision to play a pro-active role in nature conservation because they believe that this generation holds this invaluable heritage in our trust for future generations.

Volunteering

The following exciting volunteering programmes are offered:

Wildlife Volunteer
Volunteers will be divided into groups with fellow volunteers, rotatingdaily duties during their time at the project:

  • FEEDING AND CARING FOR THE ANIMALS
Volunteers will be responsible for preparing the food, feedingthe animals and maintaining the animal enclosures.
  • ANIMAL TIME
Volunteers will get to spend part of each day playing with and looking after some of the animals on the farm.
  • BIG CAT CONSERVATION WORK
Volunteers may spend time with our expert carnivore research team.
  • PROJECT WORK
The growing sanctuary needs constant repair and building work.

Volunteers can also combine the wildlife with teaching their additional
task:

Teaching and Wildlife Volunteer
Volunteers will assist the teacher at the Clever Cubs School in providing education to the San Bushman children. This unique programme combines teaching the marginalised San Bushman children as well as working hands on at an animal sanctuary, in the heart of Africa. As the school is located at the Wildlife Sanctuary, on arrival volunteers can decide how they would like to divide their time between the two projects, depending on their preference. For example, they could spend one week with the children and one week with the wildlife.

Accommodation and transport

Two options are available: volunteer rooms with up to three people (same gender) sharing each room, or large tents with a living and bedroom area to be shared by two volunteers (same gender or a couple). Showers and toilet facilities are communal and hot water is supplied by solar energy and is therefore sometimes restricted.
