Covid-19 safety measures

Ready when you are

Health is our most precious treasure. We’ve come a long way and worked hard in order to be able to provide face-to-face lessons again while ensuring the highest possible standards.

Below you can see the safety measures we have taken to provide you with training and experience that will ensure your comfort and safety.

Travelling during the pandemic

When entering South Africa, you need to present a negative Covid-19 test result that is not older than 72 hours. Further, you need to present proof of medical insurance before boarding. This insurance must include the testing and treatment of COVID-19 if applicable. For the latest information, contact your nearest South African foreign mission, visit www.dha.gov.za or contact us.

Bring a face shield or some masks, a tablet or laptop and hand sanitiser and you'll be ready to enjoy your language travel experience.

Safety measures at school

We have two smaller campuses instead of one large school as well as a large garden to teach in at Newlands and since June 2020 we have gained much experience in teaching face to face while following Covid-19 safety regulations. In addition, these are some of the measures we take:

  • Classes are run at 50% of their capacity.

  • Students use the same desk each day.

  • Masks or face shields are required by all staff and students throughout the day.
  • “No touch” sanitising stations, social distancing stickers, and information posters keep students and staff safe and informed.

  • The building is regularly ventilated and cleaned thoroughly throughout the day using disinfectant.
  • The temperature of everyone on the premises is taken on a daily basis.

  • Traffic flow inside the building is one way only.

Safety measures at the accommodation

Homestay
Our host-families have received COVID-19 training in order to be able to provide the best possible experience.

GHS Residences

  • Our residences have been deep cleaned prior to reopening.
  • Shared rooms are only available for people travelling together in 2020.
  • It is required to wear masks in the common areas indoors.
  • “No touch” sanitising stations, social distancing stickers, and information posters keep students and staff safe and informed.
  • The buildings are regularly ventilated and cleaned thoroughly each day using disinfectant.
  • The maximum number of students at the GHS Student House and the On-site Accommodation is 8 students per property instead of 12.

We look forward to welcoming you back.
