Vacancy: Academic Operations Manager

Good Hope Studies, a leading provider of English language courses to international clients, is seeking a full-time Academic Operations Manager for its two schools in Cape Town. You will be based at our school in Newlands.

What you will be doing:

  • Academic Planning: managing all classes at our two schools through our inhouse software.
  • HR: managing our team of up to 40 teachers, taking care of teacher development and recruitment.
  • Client care: monitoring the academic progress of our students in Newlands.

 What we require:

  • An initial university degree in Linguistics, Languages, Education or related subjects (desirable but not essential).
  • A Delta (please state modules completed if you haven’t completed all).
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Experience in a managerial position.
  • Experience in HR.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to learn.

Teaching

  • We require a CELTA qualification or equivalent.
  • You need to be a South African citizen, or to already have the legal right to work here.

The following will all be advantages:

  • Significant experience in teaching English as a foreign language to adults, especially where this experience is with institutions that have strong professional development programmes and high quality standards.
  • A or B grades on CELTA.
  • Delta Modules passed.
  • An Honours or Master's degree in a relevant field such as a foreign language; a Master's degree in another field.
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional growth (e.g. whether you attended or led workshops or were observed regularly).

  • Which languages you speak and to what level.
