Health is our most precious treasure. We’ve gone a long way and worked hard in order to be able to provide face-to-face lessons again while ensuring the highest possible standards. Find here our current measures and which services we are able to offer.
Whenever international borders open again and you are ready to travel, we will be here to provide you with the training and the experience you are looking for in an environment you can feel comfortable and safe in.
This section will be updated regularly.
Update: 29 June 2020
On 22 June, we have successfully re-opened our Newlands school. Only a limited number of courses and levels are available at this stage.
Strict measures have been taken to ensure the safety of our students and staff members.
We have done a thorough inspection of the premises and a full risk assessment.
A deep clean will be conducted before opening of the premises.
Classes are to run at 50% of their capacity.
Students will use the same desk each day.
PPE (personal protection equipment) will be provided. Masks and/or face shields are required to be worn by all staff and students throughout the day (each student will receive one face shield free of charge).
“No touch” sanitising stations, social distancing stickers, and information posters will keep students and staff safe and informed.
Surfaces to touch will be reduced to an absolute minimum and, where necessary, surfaces will be cleaned after each use.
The building will be cleaned thoroughly and ventilated each day.
Screening and temperature checks will be done daily on all entering the premises.
Traffic flow inside the building will be one way only.
Student computers and the library remain closed.
Accommodation or activities will not be available at this stage.
Phase 2 will start when international borders open and international flights resume.
We strongly recommend booking the GHS airport transfer. This transfer is operated by ourselves and occasionally by a transfer service that is approved by Good Hope Studies and who we have partnered with for us for many years. Face and mouth protection will be required inside the vehicle and only 50% of the maximum capacity will be allowed.
At the accommodation
Depending on the future development of the pandemic and legal requirements, we expect that not all accommodation options will be available from the beginning. Currently, we expect students to stay in single rooms at the residences and at selected host-families.
At the school
Our city centre school will open its doors again.
Safety measures in place at the school during phase 1 will be continued, but we will adjust them depending on legal requirements and further developments of the pandemic.
An activity programme within the legal requirements will be available again.
