We have a very experienced team, including two tutors who are CELTA assessors and one who is also a Delta tutor, and all of whom are committed to making the course an enjoyable start to your career in English Language Teaching.
My involvement in education spans many years and my experience is rich and varied. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1987 and after 15 years was ready for a new challenge and direction. I completed a short, basic TEFL course (2002), then did the CELTA (2005) and finally consolidated my training with the ESOL Delta qualification (2011). I have taught both locally, in Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape, and abroad, in London, Dublin and Thailand, over my teaching career. I have worked at Good Hope Studies since 2003, teaching all levels and courses and with a particular interest in examination preparation classes. I am involved with teacher development, running workshops and providing guidance to teachers at the school and have also completed an online teacher training course through NILE in addition to the CELTA tutor training course.
I graduated with a BA in Languages and Culture from Stellenbosch University before doing the CELTA course at Good Hope Studies, Cape Town, in 2007. Having taught at Good Hope Studies since then, I went on to do a MPhil degree in Second Language Studies in 2010, after which I completed two modules of the Cambridge ESOL Delta. From 2012 to 2014 I was a tutor on a Language and Communications course where I taught academic writing to undergraduate students at the University of Cape Town. I am currently completing the third Delta module while teaching English and being involved in teacher development and training. As Head Teacher for the Good Hope Studies City Centre campus I am also responsible for managing resources and providing support for management and teachers.
